BATON ROUGE, La. 鈥 Acadian Ambulance deployed 10 ambulances and 23 crew members to Florida ahead of the storm鈥檚 landfall to help the community.

Marc Creswell , Air med program director, states many residents are without power, and some are special needs individuals that depend on an oxygen system in their home.

鈥淵ou have people that depend on these systems, and they need air conditioning because they get really really ill if they don鈥檛. So our mission was to move those patients to shelters. We also help local ambulance services, because they get affected too, and they get overrun with calls,鈥 said Creswell.

Damages where the hurricane made landfall varies from power lines being down, broken trees on homes, and due to the rain the rivers are starting to overflow.

The team is stationed in Perry, Florida before that they were deployed to Marianna , then to Tallahassee where they were able to assist people ahead of the storm.

鈥淥ur purpose is to help people no matter where they are. It鈥檚 not divided by a parish or state line because wherever help is needed we are there,鈥 said Marc Creswell , Air med program director.

The hurricane does not pose a current threat to Louisiana but the Gulf Coast of Florida , including the Tampa Bay area has faced storm surge through Monday afternoon.

Until around Wednesday, NHC forecasters predict that dangerous storm surge and other symptoms of the tropical storm will impact the southeast U.S. coast, from northeastern Florida to North Carolina .
