MEMPHIS, Tenn. 鈥� First responders and a patient became trapped after their ambulance overturned in a crash, .
The crash happened on July 24 not far from the Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Several good Samaritans stopped to help at the crash.
鈥淭he EMT I was specifically with was very adamant on trying to get the patient out of the back of the vehicle, which I applaud him for,鈥� said bystander Isaiah Downey. 鈥淚t was a very heroic moment in my eyes because he [the EMT] was clearly hurt, bleeding.鈥�
Details on what led up to the crash have not been released. A spokesperson for Baptist Memorial Hospital told WMC that they have no other information about the ambulance, which is likely operated by a private company.
鈥淚t鈥檚 one of those things where these are the heroes, these are the people who do everyday things that are putting their lives on the line,鈥� Downey told WMC. 鈥淲ho鈥檚 there to help them out in situations? I think it鈥檚 one of those things [where] you see the real hero needs help and you just go do that.鈥�
Five people total were injured in the crash.
